Dharamkot
Dharamkot is a small hill station in Kangra district of Himachal.Several foreigners have taken residence here, they got influenced by the beauty and charm of this place,all people live here in village homes and tiny guest houses. Dharamkot is the perfect base for multiple hikes in the Himalayas such as Triund, Illaqua, Indrahar Pass, etc. If you are looking for peace & serenity, pure spiritual energy of the Himalayas, the sounds of mountain birds, the whistling of air through deodar tree leaves then this is the best place for you. This is a good spot for early morning yoga and meditation too. This is a ideal place to take few days off from the real world. Dharamkot is near McLeodganj about 9 kms and is famous among tourists.
The climate of Dharamkot remains favourable all year round but the best time for visiting the place is from September to June. The most suitable time for trekking, paragliding and sightseeing is March to June.
How to Reach
By Air: Gaggal is the nearest Airport to Dharamkot which is about 10 km from McLeodganj. Cabs and Taxis are available from Airport.By Rail: Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Chandigarh are nearest stations to Dharamkot. Cabs and Taxis are available from Railway Station.
By Road: Regular Deluxe bus services are available from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Pathankot to Dharamshala.
Foods
Most of the cafes are available in these area and they provide lasagnas, pastas, pancakes, hummus and shakshukas. The herbal teas –ginger, lemon, honey and mint are available.
Attractions
Bhagsu Falls
This is an extremely beautiful waterfall, it looks marvellous during monsoons.Water falls down from a height of 30 feet and the splashes are amazingly fresh.
Dal Lake
From Mcleodganj market it is just about 2 km walking distance. This is famous for its scenic beauty, surrounded by green forests of Deodar, it looks amazing.
Hanuman–Ka-Tibba
It is located on the right front of McLeodganj, it gives scenic and a breathtaking view. It is mostly famous among trekker lovers.
Tsuglagkhang
This was a residence of Tibetan Leader Dalai Lama, the Tsuglagkhang Complex. It is located towards the southern end of the town.
Tibet Museum
This museum is is located inside the Tsuglagkhang Complex in Mcleodganj which is at a distance of about 5 km. This is the first modern Museum in Dharamsala.
Triund The trek starts from Gallu Devi temple, from Mcleodganj one should reach Dharamkot and then take a cab to Gallu Devi temple. This trek distance is around 11 kms which takes around 4-5 hours. On the way of this trek you will get small café shop with eatables and water with them for trekkers. The ideal time to trek here is April - June & September November.
Naddi Naddi is an ideal picnic spot near McLeodGanj that has amazing natural beauty. The view of the Kangra valley from this place will attract and amaze the visitors.
