Ramgarh
Ramgarh is a serene hill station perched at an altitude of 1789 m above the sea level on Bhowali - Mukteshwar Road. Ramgarh is located at a distance of 26 km from Nainital in Kumaon Division of Uttaranchal.
In Ramgarh you can visit Tagore Point, which is where Noble laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore stayed (the house is in ruins now). Not too from the Tagore Point is Devisthan (in village Umagarh), the summer home of late poet Mahadevi Verma.
Ramgarh is also known as the "Fruit Bowl of Kumaon" owing to its verdant orchards of Peach, Apricots, Pears & Apples. Ramgarh comprises two parts - Malla Ramgarh, located on an elevation and Talla Ramgarh, located downhill.

Ramgarh is a small hill station and tourist destination on the way to Mukteshwar in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. This place is rich in orchards. An unobstructed view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas from this place can be seen. The place was once the cantonment of the English army. The famous poets Rabindra Nath Tagore and social worker Narain Swami had established their ashrams over here. There is also a library dedicated to famous writer Mahadevi Varma, who got the idea of writing Lachma, the famous story, in Ramgarh.
How to reach Ramgarh
Flight: Situated in Nainital District, the nearest airport to Ramgarh is Pantnagar Airport about 76 km away. You can easily avail a taxi from outside the airport for the desired destination.
Nearest Airport: Dehradun - 175 kms from Ramgarh.
By Road: The state owned buses and private buses run regularly from Uttarakhand and its neighbouring states. The intra-city bus services are also quite frequent connecting Ramgarh with other major hill stations of the state. You can easily access this hill station from Nainital, Almora, Kathgodam via bus or taxi.
By Train: Kathgodam, which is at a distance of nearly 45 km from Ramgarh, acts as the nearest railway station. It is well connected to all the major cities like Bangalore, Shimla, Delhi, Kolkata, Kanpur, Dehradun and Jammu etc. Cabs and buses are easily available outside the station.

Best Time to Visit Ramgarh
Summer (April - June): This is the best time for the travellers visiting this region. The warm summers, with the pleasant climate, compels tourists, especially from the northern belt of India, to beat the heat with a visit to this beautiful hill station.
Monsoon (July - September): This is another good time for a visit to the hill station. Although rainfall occurs, this only makes the area livelier and greener. For the budget travellers, this is one of the best times to make a visit to Ramgarh.
Winter (October - March): This is the least advisable time for a trip to Ramgarh. The harsh winters, coupled by freezing temperatures, deter travellers, except for the absolutely bold adventurers, to make a visit to the place.

Places to visit in Ramgarh
Orchards
One thing that should not be missed and that Ramgarh is renowned for is the refreshing orchards. Spread across a large area of the town, these orchards offers a mesmerizing experience with every stroll you take.
The amazing weather is an added bonus that leaves no stone unturned to freshen your mind and body. The place completely justifies its nickname of __Ô?_Fruit Bowl of Kumoun__Ôï? with variety of exotic fruits grown here in abundance like strawberries, apples, pear, apricot and peaches etc.
Nathuakhan
A small captivating hamlet located in proximity to Ramgarh, Nathuakhan is basically known for its picturesque beauty. With hilly terrains, verdant valley and thick cover of lush green forest, this village is a place to relax and enjoy solitude away from the buzzing of the cities.
Mukteshwar
Situated almost 25 km from Ramgarh, Mukteshwar has past of being established by British in 1893 to serve as a research and education institute in form of Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI).
Today, this place is also known for its 350 year old temple lying on the top of a mountain peak. The temple named as Mukteshwar Dham is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It also offers a breathtaking view of peaks like Nanads Devi, Nandaghunti, Trishul, Nanda Kot and Panchachuli.

Naukuchiatal
Literally meaning the lake with nine corners, Naukuchiatal Lake is located at an altitude of 3996 ft above the sea level. Never falling short of water, it is regularly filled by the underwater stream.
This place also acts as an inhabitation for numerous exotic bird species. Activities like paragliding, boating, biking, swimming, fishing and parasailing attracts tourists from all over the country in large numbers. There is also a myth attached to this lake. According to legend, a single glimpse to all the nine corner of the lake with feet on the land can help one achieve nirvana. It is located almost 37 kms from Ramgarh.
Nainital
Nainital is a famous hill station which lies at merely a distance of 26 km from Ramgarh. It serves as an epicenter of various attractions and panoramic views attracting visitors in large numbers.
Enriched in wide range of flora and fauna, one can himself/herself lost in its majestic backdrop of glistening Himalayas. It is also a great place for shopping, sightseeing with ever growing hotel industry.
Bhimtal Lake
The place is a must visit and considered as one of the best destination for excursion. Situated 25 km from Ramgarh and 1375 m above the sea level, Bhimtal is most famous for its Bhimtal Lake and a small island in the middle.
This place has also a legend attached to it which says that Bhimtal is an ancient place where Bhim from Mahabharata, after whom the area is named, spent time during the exile period of Pandavas.
