Baijnath
Baijnath is located at an altitude of about 1314 mtrs . It is a small town situated in Kangra district of Himachal. A Shiva temple is the main attraction of this town ,it is believed as per legend that Ravana worshipped Lord Shiva and to please him he offered his ten heads in the hawan kund. Lord shiva influenced from Ravana worship gave him with powers of invincibility and immortality and restored his ten ten heads as well. As per Ravana requested Lord Shiva converted himself to Shivling and warned him that on the way to Lanka should not place the Shivling down, but after reaching Baijnath he got a nature’s call . Lord Ganesh had requested Lord Wind to make Ravana do so. Lord Ganesh converted himself as a shepherd and Ravana handed over this Shivling to the shepherd and went away to get himself releived. At that very moment Lord Ganesha kept the Shivlinga on the ground and it got established there.
The temple was built by the two merchant brothers Manyuka and Ahuka in 804 AD. The devasting earthquake in kangra which came on 4th April 1905 has caused the damage to this temple as well and it has been repaired.At present temple is under the Archaeological Survey of India, but to take care of worship and rituals it is under a local board at Baijnath with SDM as its chairman. This town gives amazing views of the Dhauladhar Ranges and numurous mountain streams.

By Rail-: Kathgodam is the nearest Railway Station. Some important trains for Kathgodam are the Shatabdi Express, Howrah Express, Ranikhet Express, Rampur Passenger, and Nainital Express.
By Road- Kausani is linked to Almora (54 km), Ranikhet (62 km), Pithoragarh (107 km) and Nainital (117 km). It can be accessed by roads from Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Nainital, Pant Nagar and Ranikhet.
