Nalagarh is away from the crowded place and in abundant natural beauty is available which gives one soul’s peace and harmony from their day to day life. The Mughals and the Britishers during their rule due to the beauty of this place consider this as a princely state. Nalagarh's main attraction is the Nalagarh Fort which has now been converted into a heritage hotel that attracts tourists from all over the country. The place is surrounded by the view of the outer Himalayas on one side and the Shivaliks on the other. The place has many forts around the valley, which include the forts of Chamba, Surajupur, Ramharh and Malaon. It can be visited by family and couples,it is a perfect combination of architecture and culture.
Nalagarh was founded in 1100 AD under the name Hindur by the Chandela Rajputs. Nalagarh is famous for its fort which was built in 1421 under the rule of Raja Bikram Chand. This is a semi-hilly area although it comes under Himachal Pradesh but looks like punjab.More than 80% population is punjabi here. Nalagarh is an industrial area with many variety of industries and upcoming industries in steel, chemicals, thread mills, leather and breweries. Some of the major industries are Samrat Plywood Limited, GPI textiles, Drish, Godrej Hershey Ltd, TVS Motors Sara textiles etc.

By Air Chandigarh is the nearest airport at a distance of about 58 km. It is well connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Srinagar.Cabs/ Taxis are available from Airport.

By Rail Ghanauli is the nearest Railway Station from Nalagarh at a distance of about 14 km . Another nearest Railway Station is Chandigarh. Cabs/ Taxis are available from Railway Station.

By Road Nalagarh is very close to the National Highway 21A that connects the other cities as well. State transport buses, deluxe buses and semi deluxe buses regularly run to and from Nalagarh.

Best Time To visit Nalagarh
Summer (March - June) The temperatures range between 10 to 35 degrees Celsius. It is mildly hot in summers.

Monsoon (July - September) The temperatures range between 10 to 17 degrees Celsius. Nalagarh receives heavy rainfall during these months so it is advisable not to visit in these months.

Winter (October - March) The temperatures range between 3 to 7 degrees Celsius. It is the best time to visit Nalagarh.

Cuisine served here is mostly North Indian , there are few dhabas and small restaurants. You will get the food in your Hotels and resorts as well.

Nalagarh fort
Nalagarh lies on the edge of Aravalli Hills, Nalagarh has few historical buildings. The fort is now converted into the the heritage resort.This place was ruled by the Chandela Rajputs, Other Rajputs including Thakurs, Tomara, Parmar, Rathore, Chauhan, Bais and many more settled in Nalagarh. The foundation of Nalagarh Fort was laid down by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734.Nahargrah fort got the name from Nahar Singh Bhomia , it is said that the place was haunted by his spirit, so to give the peace to his spirit ,a temple was built within the fort.

Ramgarh fort
Ramgarh fort was built by Raja Ram Chander and is located at the hilltop gives a amazing view. It is another historical monument turned into a heritage hotel with luxurious facilities. This fort is located around 1 hour distance from Nalagarh.

Gobind Sagar Lake
This lake is about 22 km away from Nalagarh city ,located in the Bilaspur district. It is a Man-Made reservoir for The Bhakra Dam, it was confirmed as a waterfowl harbor in 1962,built in 1976 it is a source of Hydro-Power for Bhakra Dam. It is mainly famous for fishing as it has 51 species of fishes some of them being Labeo dero, Tor pitutrata, Mystus seenghala and Mirror carp. One can also enjoy activities like swimming, surfing, water-skiing, kayaking, rowing, canoeing, and white water river rafting.

Yadavindra Gardens
This place is located at a distance of around 35 km from Nalagarh city, also known as the Mughal Gardens of Pinjore. The garden has seven downward terraced lawns, domed balconies, three palaces, an amphitheater, a Japanese garden, a mini zoo, lighted fountains, shaded pathways and a nursery of plants.It is situated at the foothills of the Shivaliks, in the month of June and July The Baisakhi Festival and the Mango Festival are celebrated here.
